My name is Blake Ginther. My whole life I have been obsessed with magazines, which influenced me to start at St. Edward's University as a graphic design major. Within my first semester I discovered I was not made to be a graphic design major. Luckily, I read about the English Writing and Rhetoric major and fell in love. Currently I am in my last real semester at St. Edward's (I have one course to take over summer), and I graduate in August. I have always loved writing academic papers (does that make me a nerd? haha), and I love rhetoric. After graduation I hope to work in advertising. At least that's my plan for right now. I frequently change directions.

'''Contributions:'''

Started Biographies page, but then created Authors page to put biographies and list works under each author. Linked the author's page to their article summary. I added some (most?) of the biographies (biographies, awards, education, etc.) and most of the further readings listed on the authors' pages. I think I did most of the further readings that link to google books or other websites. After I finished my work on them, I got Chelsea's email about replacing the author pages with their pages that already exist on Wikipedia. As of now, I'm not sure if she will delete the ones I've worked on.

I also did some housekeeping work and rearranged the author pages. Someone else created the contents and separated the sections on the individual pages, but I went through and moved the Biographies underneath the "Biography" header.

Created pages for article summaries for articles we read 3/22 and after.

Article Summaries: "Rhetoric: Its Functions and Its Scope" by Donald C. Bryan, "The New Rhetoric: A Theory of Practical Reasoning" by Chaïm Perelman,
== Biography ==

John Slatin (1952-2008), Ph.D, founded the Institute for Technology and Learning at the University of Texas at Austin. Slatin was visually impaired, suffering from retinitis pigmentosa, which causes gradual deterioration and ultimate loss of vision, and had been working with accessibility issues since 1985. During 1985, Slatin received a grant to develop software for visually impaired students for UT's first computer-based writing class.

In 2005, Slatin was diagnosed with leukemia, but that did not slow him down. In 2006, Slatin participated in a dance called "Sextet," created by Allison Orr, which featured two professional dancers, two blind people and their guide dogs, and was performed at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington D.C. Slatin also frequently danced with Austin Body Choir, an improvisational world music dance group that was held at a yoga studio. The members of this dance group gave Slatin much support when dealing with his illness.

Through his illness, he and his wife Anna kept a blog titled "The Leukemia Letters," and blogged their way through Slatin's entire illness. According to Slatin, the blog was extremely therapeutic.

During his lifetime, Slatin also chaired on the Accessibility and Usability Domain committee of a Texas initiative to develop information architecture for electronic government services in Texas. The mayor of Austin's Committee on People with Disabilities awarded John with a Distinguished Service Award for his work at AIR Austin, and Slatin also sat on the Board of Directors of Access Arts Austin, a group that works with people in Texas and the United States to make the arts more accessible to people with disabilities.

Slatin passed away on March 24, 2008. He was 55 years old.

Blake:

Class Notes: March 29, March 24, March 10, March 1, Feb. 24, Feb. 22, Feb. 17, Feb. 15, Feb. 10, Feb. 8, Feb. 3.

Started Biographies page, but then created Authors page to put biographies and list works under each author. Linked the author's page to their article summary. I added some of the biographies ( and most of the further readings listed on the authors' pages. I think I did most of the further readings that link to google books or other websites.

Created pages for article summaries for articles we read 3/22 and after.

Article Summaries: "Rhetoric: Its Functions and Its Scope" by Donald C. Bryan, "The New Rhetoric: A Theory of Practical Reasoning" by Chaïm Perelman,
